Net Neutrality is the idea that Internet service providers (ISPs) must allow access to all sites and services on the internet without favoring certain websites or internet traffic. This is a good thing for everyone who uses the internet to shop, surf the web, and communicate with others.

The cable and telecom industries argue that they should be able to throttle traffic and charge consumers more for access to certain sites. This would have a dramatic impact on every business that uses the internet.

For example, if a business relies on videoconferencing for communication, it could be charged more to use this technology. Or perhaps an ISP has a deal with Skype allowing access for that product but not a competitor such as Apple's FaceTime.

The continued classification of broadband access as a utility has a positive impact for all internet users. If ISPs are allowed to send traffic to one service but not another, they are able to effectively create "winners and losers" on a whim, rather than allowing a marketplace of ideas to determine that outcome. If an ISP was able to block traffic to YouTube when it was first brought online, we would likely not enjoy the numerous streaming content services that are available online today.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler said in a statement following the ruling, "Today’s ruling is a victory for consumers and innovators who deserve unfettered access to the entire Web, and it ensures the Internet remains a platform for unparalleled innovation, free expression and economic growth."

View full stoy here:
http://kstp.com/national/net-neutrality-rules/4168314/

Interviewhttp://www.newberrygroup.com/NewsRoom/?id=165Wed, 22 Jun 2016 17:12:00 GMTNewberry Group Provides Explanation of "Cellphone Swatting" TechniquesSr. Forensics Consultant Christopher Schulte talks to Minneapolis' Channel 5 News about how the act of "swatting" can be used to hoax bomb threats simultaneously around the globe.

In a recent interview with Minneapolis/St. Paul ABC affiliate KSTP-5 News, Mr. Shulte demonstrates how easy it is to spoof telephones when making calls. Calls of this type can cover up the real perpetrator.

View full interview here:

http://kstp.com/news/bomb-threats-shut-down-schools-minnesota-swatting-cell-phone/4148836/

Interviewhttp://www.newberrygroup.com/NewsRoom/?id=164Mon, 06 Jun 2016 15:19:00 GMTNewberry Group Provides Clarity on FBI / Apple case Over Hacking a Terrorist's iPhoneNewberry Groups Sr. Consultant, Chris Shulte provides clarity over Apple's refusal to honor a recent FBI request to hack into the iPhone of one of the San Bernadino terrorists.

In a recent interview with Minneapolis/St. Paul NBC affiliate KARE-11 News, Mr. Shulte explains that while the premise of the FBI request may seem like an easy request to support, the ramifications may very well outweigh the results of this one request.

View full interview here:

http://www.kare11.com/news/local-lawyer-weighs-in-on-iphone-dispute/45662741

Interviewhttp://www.newberrygroup.com/NewsRoom/?id=163Mon, 22 Feb 2016 11:43:00 GMTNewberry Security Expert Interviewed on St. Louis KSDK 5 News
(Screenshot www.ksdk.com)

Diane McClain, Operations Manager for Newberry’s Cyber Security Practice, was interviewed on December 21st, 2011 by St. Louis KSDK 5 News about how to guard against email phishing scams. Diane explains how constant vigilance is the key to avoiding a malicious link embedded in an email.

View the full video and story at KSDK.com.

http://www.ksdk.com/life/programming/local/tisl/article/292294/97/How-to-guard-against-phishing-email-scams

Interviewhttp://www.newberrygroup.com/NewsRoom/?id=127Wed, 04 Jan 2012 11:20:00 GMTNewberry Group Announces cmdLabs Merger CompletionNewberry Group, Inc., a nationally-recognized cyber security and IT services firm, announces the completion of the merger between Newberry Group, Inc. and cmdLabs, LLC, Newberry’s wholly-owned subsidiary.
